After qualifying for
the 1992 European Championship, Yugoslavia were disqualified from all competitions because of the ongoing wars in the territory that led to the
break-up of the country.
The USSR (Union of
Soviet Socialist Republics) was dissolved after the country had qualified
for the 1992 European Championship. Eleven of the 15 former republics
competed in the finals as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

the last published for each year (December). Underlined rankings
from 1994 onwards are the highest (in green)
or lowest (in red) for that country at the
end of a year.
Czechoslovakia was
dissolved at the beginning of 1993, but completed the 1994 World Cup
qualifying competition as the Representation of Czechs and Slovaks (RCS).
