Wednesday,
28 October
2009 - Dunga announced his squad to face England & Oman next month. The
Brazil squad which will face England in Qatar next month has been named,
with the Three Lions set to go head-to-head with several of their star names
during the friendly game in Doha. Brazil Head Coach Dunga has named a
24-man party for the game at the Istād Khalīfah and it includes
most of the recognisable Brazilian names you would expect, as well as a number
of Brazil's English-based players. The likes of Manchester City's Robinho
and Liverpool duo Fábio Aurélio and Lucas are all included in the squad, whilst
players such as Real Madrid's Kaká and Barcelona's Daniel Alves are named as
Dunga picks a squad which are all based with European clubs.
Monday, 9 November 2009 -
Palermo's Fabio Simplicio receives a shock call up
into the squad. He is yet to be capped by the Brazilian national team.
Tuesday,
10 November
2009 - Italian side Roma are refusing to release goalkeeper Doni and
defender Juan for Brazil's friendlies against England and Oman in the Middle
East. "Doni and Juan will stay in Rome to have treatment, given that
Brazil are only playing two friendlies and the regulations allow it," Roma's
sporting human resources manager Gianpaolo Montali was quoted as saying by
Monday's La Gazzetta dello Sport. "We have sent an urgent fax to the
Brazilian Football Federation with all the necessary documentation. If the
national team doctors want to verify the condition of their players, they can
come to Rome and do it."
Wednesday,
11 November
2009 - Luisao has undergone appendix surgery and will miss the Selecao's
international friendlies against England in Doha on Saturday and Oman in Muscat
three days later. The player had an emergency operation late on Tuesday,
Benfica said in a statement on their official website, adding that the surgery
was successful and Luisao would leave the hospital in the next 72 hours.
Friday,
13 November
2009 - Thiago Silva, Cris and Fábio Simplício have been called into the squad. Juan and Ramires are all injured, while Julio Baptista is
unlikely to play. Doni has confirmed that he is fit to start for Brazil in
goal, despite the concerns of his club, Roma.
Robinho will not play in Doha as he continues his
recovery following an ankle injury. The Manchester City star had joined up with
his country yesterday despite having not fully recovered from a stress fracture
of his ankle suffered while on international duty earlier this season.
However, he has not given up hope of being available to face Oman in another
international friendly on Tuesday.
Fabio Aurelio has pulled out of
the Brazil squad. The full-back was initially tipped to make his
international debut. However, the injury-prone defender has suffered a
knock in the build up to the game and has pulled out of the squad in what will
be a further concern to under-pressure Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.
