Thursday, 20 May 2021 - Romania coach Mirel Rădoi has named a 25-man squad to face Georgia and England in friendly matches next month. There were a number of other players called up, but for medical reasons, could not be included. These were Ionuţ Radu, Alin Tosca, Valentin Mihaila, George Puscas and Florin Andone.

Thursday, 27 May 2021 - Nicusor Bancu has been forced to withdraw from the Romanian squad because of medical reasons. His place goes to Cluj's Portugal-born left-back Camora. In October 2020, as a 33 year-old, he became the oldest player to make his Romanian debut.

Friday, 28 May 2021 - The Romania squad are involved in their first training session at the CNAFM in Stadionul Mogosoaia, but an injury to Andrei Burcă has meant a call up into the squad for FCSB's Iulian Cristea. However, Burcă will remain with the squad for further investigation.

Sunday, 30 May 2021 - It is now confirmed that Andrei Burcă has sprained his right knee and has withdrawn from the squad and returned to his club.

Wednesday, 2 June 2021 - Romania 1 Georgia 2. The Romanian team succumb to a home defeat, their third defeat in a row, but also have a player sent off in the first half, Florin Tănase. Georgia scored the opening goal shortly after the hour, Georges Mikautadze with the honour, before they themselves were down to ten men three minutes later, Saba Kvirkvelia receiving a second yellow card. Giorgi Aburjania then put the Georgian team 2-0 up before substitute Andrei Ivan grabbed a consolation goal for the home team.
