Diary
Tuesday, 4 May 2021 - Teams will be allowed to
select a 26-player squad instead of 23 at this summer's delayed European
Championship Finals. The change has been implemented to lessen the load on
players after a club season compressed because of the coronavirus
pandemic. It will also help managers adapt if outbreaks occur during the
tournament.
Monday, 17 May 2021 - At a press
conference in Zagreb, Croatia coach Zlatko Dalić has announced his squad of 26 players for the upcoming Euro 2020
which starts next month. A further eight players were placed on a standby list:
Ivića Ivušić, Filip Uremović, Marin Pongračić, Nikola Moro, Lovro Majer, Toma
Bašić, Kristijan Lović, Marko Livaja. Also, former player Vedran
Ćorluka was
confirmed as the national team's assistant coach. Uremović is currently
injured with knee issues, and if he makes a recovery, may be added to the final
list before 1 June.
Saturday, 29 May 2021 -
The Croatian squad have their first training session at AdriaTraining in
Rovinj after meeting up in Zagreb earlier in the week. Their facilities, on the
North-West coast of Croatia, overlooks the Adriatic Sea. They are without Mateo Kovačić, who is currently on Champions Leaue duty with his club, Chelsea FC, in Portugal.
Monday, 31 May 2021 -
The HNS Management have decided that the Croatian National Team wil remain in
Rovinj for the duration of the Tournament, instead of the team camp in St.
Andrews, as had been originally planned.
Tuesday, 1 June 2021 - Croatia's Euro 2020
preparations continued with a frustrating draw in a friendly home draw at home
to Armenia. Inter Milan winger Ivan Perišić headed in a first-half opener, but
the 2018 World Cup runners-up were held by an Armenian side, ranked 90th in the
world, when substitute Wbeymar Angulo equalised late on Velika Gorica. Perišić,
who had helped Inter Milan win their first Serie A title in eleven years, marked
his 100th appearance with his 28th goal, scoring from Luka Modrić's cross.
Saturday, 5 June 2021 -
The Croatian squad arrive in Brussels ahead of their friendly match with Belgium
tomorrow.
Sunday, 6 June
2021 - Belgium 1 Croatia 0 - Croatia suffered defeat in Belgium in their
final warm-up game before facing England next Sunday. Inter Milan striker Romelu
Lukaku scored the winner in the first half, spinning and finishing from close
range following Jason Denayer's flick on.
