The UEFA Nations League
was re-structured after the first edition with leagues A, B and C each
increased to 16 teams. P = Promoted to the next highest league for
the next edition, R = Relegated to the next lowest league for the next
edition. Positions in parentheses within leagues B, C and D are the rankings
	within that league.
	Nations League
placings were used to offer alternative routes to the World Cup and European
Championship finals via the play-offs for teams that did not qualify
directly from their group (* = qualified via this
route, # = the two nations that appeared in World Cup qualifying play-offs via this route).
All European Championship play-off placings were as a result of their
	Nations League ranking.
	The FIFA rankings are
the last published for each year (November or December). Underlined rankings
	are the highest (in green)
or lowest (in red) for that country at the
	end of a year.
	After qualifying for
the 2022 World Cup play-offs, Russia were disqualified from all competitions because of their
	invasion of Ukraine.
	Key: DNQ = Did Not
	Qualify, dsq = Disqualified, PO = Play-off, QF = Quarter-finals, rnd = Round, RU = Runners-up, SF =
	Semi-finals.
