Thursday, 22 May 1958 - Before the Brazilian party leave for Sweden, they defeat Corinthians 5-0 at their Estádio do Pacaembu in São Paulo. Mazzola scores first, followed by two from Pepe and another two from Garrincha.

Thursday, 29 May 1958 -
The Brazilian team defeat Fiorentina 4-0 at the Stadio Coumnale Artemio Franchi in Florence. Mazzola grabs two of the goals, with Pepe and Garrincha scoring the others. Garrincha's goal involved him taking the ball and dribbling through the entire defence, before unleashing the ball into an open goal, he waited for another defender to attempt a tackle, before dribbling around him and then scoring.

Sunday, 1 June 1958 - The Brazilian team defeat Internazionale 4-0 in a practice match at the San Siro. Dino Sani, Dida, Mazzola and Zagallo score the goals. Garrincha was dropped. As expected, all the players  in the running for selection must pass a psychiatric test.

Sunday, 8 June 1958 - Brazil 3 Austria 0 - Brazil defeated Austria with three goals, after dominating the first half, with a goal from Mazzola in the 37th minute. They went further in the lead in Nilton Santos scored five minutes after the break and Mazzola scored his second five minutes from the end. The result puts Brazil on top of the early table.
