xxday, June 1992 - Denmark had failed to qualify for the 1992 European Championship final tournament, finishing second behind Yugoslavia in their qualifying group.  But shortly before the tournament began, UEFA ousted Yugoslavia, and Denmark were summoned as the replacement.  The Danes hurriedly assembled a squad that excluded Michel Laudrup, who refused to join the national team because of differences with Richard Moller Nielsen.  A second notable absentee was Jan Molby, who was not selected after he also had differences with Nielsen.
