Squad details correct up to
and including Honduras' match against Israel on 1 June 2014.
Tallies taken from Fenafuth & Official FIFA Lists
Diary
Tuesday, 6 May 2014 -
Honduras have named their
30-man Provisional 2014 World Cup squad, which includes six British-based players, but Luis
Fernando Suarez kept faith with with most of the regulars who saw the team
through the Concacaf qualifiers. Suarez said: "I ask the ones who have not been
called up to understand. A lot of players were part of this process, but only 23
can be called. I cannot keeperybody satisfied." In Brazil, Honduras will
play France, Ecuador and Switzerland in Group E. Honduras travel to the United
States on 12 May to play three warm-up friendlies - against Turkey, Israel and
England - ahead of the World Cup.
Thursday, 29 May 2014 -
Mevlut Erdinc scored one
goal and set up another as Turkey defeated Brazil-bound Honduras 2-0 on
Thursday in a friendly match. It was the first in a series of World Cup
preparation matches for Honduras, which will open play in Brazil against
France on 15 June and also face Ecuador and Switzerland in Group E
matches. Los Catrachos also face warm-up matches against Israel
on Sunday at Houston and at Miami on 7 June against England. Turkey,
which failed to qualify for the World Cup, sported a young line-up.
Sunday, 1 June 2014 -
Honduras' preparations for
the World Cup suffered another blow as they lost 4-2 to Israel in Houston.
After trailing 1-0 at half-time to Eran Zahavi's impressive strike,
Honduras hit back just after the break through Roger Espinoza. But Maynor
Figueroa's own goal gave Israel the ascendency soon after, before goals
from Omer Damari and Gil Vermouth saw Eli Guttman's men defeat Honduras
for the second time in a year. The victory was Israel's first since they
triumphed 2-0 over Honduras on 2 June last year, and their first win in
eight matches.
Tuesday, 3 June 2014 -
Arnold Peralta has been
ruled out of Honduras's World Cup squad because of a thigh injury. He is
replaced by Real Espana's Edder Delgado. There are five British-based
players in the 23-man squad, which will also face England in a friendly on
Saturday. Hull defender Maynor Figueroa, Stoke midfielder Wilson Palacios,
Wigan duo Roger Espinoza and Juan Carlos Garcia and Celtic's Emilio
Izaguirre are all selected.
