Friday, 17 March 2017 - Joachim Löw has announces his 24-man squad for the friendly match against England, and the qualification match against Azerbaijan.

Monday, 20 March 2017 - Leading goalkeeper and team captain Manuel Neuer withdraws from the squad and is replaced with Kevin Trapp. Neuer is suffering with a calf injury, and is being treated by his club in Munich. The uncapped Trapp joins up with the rest of the squad at Kamen-Kaiserau Sports School.

Tuesday, 21 March 2017 - Joachim Löw announces that Lukas Podolski will captain the German's tomorrow night in the abscence of Manuel Neuer. However, Mesut Özil, Julian Draxler and Mario Gómez all miss out through injury, but should be available for the match against Azerbaijan. Özil and Draxler are suffering with hamstring injuries, whereas Gómez has a groin problem.
