Diary
Friday, 4 November 2016 -
Three-time European champions Spain
have named eight Premier League players in their squad for their first
visit to Wembley Stadium in five years. Spain are unbeaten since Julen
Lopetegui took charge following Euro 2016 and the former goalkeeper has
named a 25-man party to take on England on Tuesday 15 November. Premier
League top-scorer Diego Costa, with eight goals in 10 games, is named
alongside Chelsea team-mate Cesar AzpIlićueta. Arsenal defender Nacho
Monreal is included, while Premier League leaders Manchester City will be
represented by David Silva and Nolito. Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe
Reina will vie with Manchester United stopper David De Gea for the No1
shirt. And De Gea has United club-mates Ander Herrera and Juan Mata for
company.
Wednesday, 9 November 2016 -
Chelsea striker Diego Costa has discovered a groin problem
while on international duty with Spain, according to Spanish outlet El
Confidencial, Costa arrived at Spain's training camp with a groin injury
and is now a doubt for his country's upcoming games. Spain boss, Julen
Lopetegui, considered sending Costa back to London for treatment but
decided that the forward could remain at Spain's base to recover.
Thursday, 10 November 2016 -
Costa has been replaced in the squad by Celta de
Vigo's Ioga Aspas.
