All information is
complete to and including England's last match, the fourth of the 2016-17 season,
against Scotland on 11 November 2016.
Diary
Sunday, 26 July 2015 -
England road to qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia
has been mapped out following Saturday's draw in St Petersburg. The
fixtures were decided today using UEFA's approved computerised system,
which takes into account a number of factors including travel and
domestic competition commitments.
Sunday, 6 November 2016 -
Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has been ruled out of England's squad
after suffering a knee injury in training. Spurs boss Mauricio
Pochettino said the 20-year-old would be out for "a few weeks" after
leaving him out of his squad to play Arsenal today. Pochettino said
Alli "twisted his knee in a clash with a team-mate".
Interim
manager Gareth Southgate has named his 25-man squad to face Scotland
and Spain. He has recalled Jack Wilshere and Harry Kane, as well as
Nathanial Clyne, Adam Lallana and Raheem Sterling. The uncapped
defender Michael Keane keeps his place in the squad. "Over the last
few weeks we've been looking at as many games as possible and keeping
track of all of the players," said Southgate. "There were some players
that weren't available to us last time with injury who are in good
form that make the frame – the likes of Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana
and Raheem Sterling. It's good to be able to welcome them back.
Similarly Harry Kane. We had some good discussions with a lot of the
clubs over the past few weeks, and Tottenham have been very helpful in
terms of Harry's availability. I'm grateful to Mauricio [Pochettino]
for that. Of course, Jack Wilshere is a player that we feel has a lot
of class and is now starting to get more 90-minutes under his belt.
It's good to bring him back into the squad." The Three Lions will
report to St. George's Park tomorrow lunchtime.
Monday, 7 November 2016 -
The squad report for training at St. George's Park. At the end of the
day their are a couple of withdrawals. Southampton goalkeeper Fraser
Forster leaves and is replaced by Sunderland's Jordan Pickford, who
earns his second replacement call-up in a row. Leicester's Danny
Drinkwater is also returned to his club, replaced by debutant West Ham
player, Aaron Cresswell.
Tuesday, 8 November 2016 -
Aaron Cresswell joins up and has his first training session with the
England squad at St. George's Park. Because a number of players are
following their individual fitness programmes, there are three members of
the under-21 squad, James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Redmond and Nathaniel
Chalobah, involved in the threadbare training session.
Friday, 11 November 2016 - England
comfortably beat Scotland 3-0 at Wembley, with goals from Daniel
Strurridge, Adam Lallana and Gary Cahill. Cahill is also cautioned,
earning a suspension which will be served against Lithuania next
March. Captain Wayne Rooney was also cautioned.
Sunday, 13 November 2016 - Harry
Kane has been released as he recovers from injury. The 23-year-old has
played 73 minutes for Spurs since damaging his ankle against
Sunderland on 18 September. "The sessions we're going to do aren't
what Harry needs at this time," said interim England boss Gareth
Southgate. "It was never really my intention to start him in a game
and I think it's important that he gets a different training programme
to what we're going to follow over the next couple of days."
Monday, 14 November 2016 - The
England team are training today at Tottenham Hotspur's Bull's Cross
base in Enfield without Wayne Rooney and Ryan Bertrand, who both have
minor injury issues. With only nineteen outfield players training,
Southgate drafts in Tottenham's Academy player, seventeen year-old
Dylan Duncan. In his press conference, Southgate confirms that
Jordan Henderson will be captaining the side against Spain tomorrow
night. Wayne Rooney withdrew from the squad on the evening,
suffering with a knee injury.
