Playing Career |
Club(s) |
Began his youth career at Wrexham AFC, then at Manchester United FC, whom
he signed for as a trainee on 8 July 2002. He would become the
first-choice keeper for the reserve team. He was sent out on loan in the
2005-06 to Swindon Town, he returned to join Royal Antwerp FC on
loan, without making any Belgian league appearances. Heaton was then sent
on a season-long loan to Cardiff City FC on 23 May 2008. He returned to United, only for, on 15
August 2009, to be sent out to Queen's Park Rangers FC on loan for three
months as an emergency, without competing in the League. On his return, on 13 November 2009,
he joined Rochdale AFC, and on 12 February 2010, he went to Wycombe Wanderers
FC, to see the season out. Heaton returned to United to be released. On 15 June 2010, Heaton signed for
Cardiff City FC, but again, after only being second-choice, he was released on 14 May
2012. In the July, Watford FC were lined up as possible suitors, but the deal
was scrapped. Then after a trial, he signed with Bristol City FC on 27
July, and turned down a second year to join Burnley FC in May 2013.
On
1
August 2019, he signed for Aston Villa FC in an £8 million transfer
deal. Rejoined Manchester United FC on 2 July 2021. |
