Played junior
football in and around the Newcastle upon Tyne area, with Newcastle City
schools and the
Wallsend Boys Club, Stocksfield FC and Newburn FC. Signed as a trainee
with Newcastle United FC on 4 July 2007. He joined Stockport County FC on
loan on 3 October 2008. He was sent out on loan again, to Bristol Rovers
FC on 31 July 2009. Upon his return to Newcastle, he was loaned out again
to Norwich City FC, on 28 August 2009, for an initial one-month loan
stint, but lasted the entire season. He was sent out on a season-long loan on 24 August
2010, to The Celtic FC, he rejoined Celtic on another season-long loan
on 17 August 2011. And finally, without ever making a Newcastle
competitive appearance, he signed a permanent deal with Celtic on 5 July
2012. Forster had kept 79 clean sheets in his
140 SPL appearances, up until he joined Southampton FC on 9 August
2014 for a £10 million transfer fee. A knee injury in March 2015
meant he missed almost a year of football.
On 22 August
2019, he rejoined The Celtic FC on a season-long loan deal. He was
back on Southampton FC's bench for the 2020-21 season,
before making the first team again the following season. Signed with
Tottenham Hotspur FC on 8 June 2022. |
