Walter Winterbottom's 51st match was the abandoned match against Argentina in May 1953, recorded as a scoreless draw

Comparing the Managers on their 52nd match
Ramsey, Greenwood and Robson all won 2-0, Alf, against Northern Ireland, Ron, against Czechoslovakia in World Cup Finals and Bobby beat Yugoslavia in the final match of 1986. Winning 2-1 were Winterbottom, against Chile, Eriksson against United States in the 2005 tour, as did Southgate, against Poland in 2021. Hodgson beat Portugal with a single goal. The Selection Committee only managed a 2-2 draw with Scotland.
