Birth 13 December 1924 in Blackpool, Lancashire [registered in Fylde, Lancashire, March 1924].
Marriage to Joyce Whitmore, at Tyldesley Methodist Church, 7 June 1947 [registered in Leigh, Lancashire, June 1947]. Two children, Lynne (1950) and Robert (1952).
Death 4 August 2013 in Tottington, aged 88 years 234 days, following a long battle with dementia.

Club Career

Club(s) Began playing football with his works team, Ford Motors FC of Manchester. From where he joined Bolton Wanderers FC in early 1944. He remained at Burnden Park , making 291 league appearances, scoring 25 goals, until he moved to Sheffield United FC in September 1956 for £5000, where he made just eighteen league appearances. Joined Wigan Athletic FC, of the Lancashire Combination, as player-manager from 1 August 1958 until his resignation on 1 January 1959, he had made twenty league appearances, scoring five goals. Spent the 1959-60 season with Nuneaton Borough FC, and finally appearing with Pwllheli FC in 1961.
