Started his
career as a junior centre-forward when he played for local clubs Worksop
Wesley FC and Netherton FC, took over goalkeeping duties before joining
Worksop Town FC in 1919. When he was regarded as 'The Best Goalkeeper in
the Midland League', Brown was transferred to The Wednesday FC on 23 February 1923 for £360
fee, and left Sheffield Wednesday FC on 17 September 1937 after they were
relegated from the top tier, having made 465 league appearances.
He joined Hartlepools United FC for a fortnight, being
released after a solitary league appearance. After which he
retired. |
