Club Career

Club(s) Although born in Basingstoke, Cleverley grew up in Bradford, and was soon a part of the youth set-up at Bradford City AFC.  Within a year, however, as a twelve year-old, he was signed as a Manchester United FC trainee in July 2003.  Becoming an integral part of the youth teams, Cleverley was soon sent out on loan. Playing fifteen league matches, scoring twice with Leicester City FC from 16 January 2009.  Then with Watford FC from 18 August 2009, where he played 33 league matches, scoring eleven goals. In 2010, Cleverley went on loan to fellow Premier League side Wigan Athletic FC on 31 August 2010, where he played another 25 matches in the league, scoring four. Up until 2013-14, he had played in 54 Premier League matches for United, scoring three goals. The summer 2014 transfer deadline day was a tug-of-war for Cleverley, with both Everton FC and Aston Villa FC vying for his signature. With contract discussions going well into the night, Cleverley finally signed on a season-long loan for Aston Villa FC on 2 September 2014, making the FA Cup Final, as well as thirty Premier League appearances, along with three goals. On 5 June 2015, free agent Cleverley was signed by Everton FC, effective 1 July. After two goals in 32 Premier League appearances, he joined fellow Premier League club, Watford FC on loan on 12 January 2017, on 31 March, the deal became permanent for Ł8 million, effective from 1 July. He had completed thirteen Premier League appearances up until 2016-17;
