Started
with Coalville FC juniors and then Measham Imperial FC. Signed for
Leicester City FC in July 1966, where his performances were noted by Derby
County FC, who broke the British transfer record fee when they paid £225,000
for Nish in August 1972, he had completed 228 league appearances
with City, scoring 25 goals. He made another 188 league
outings with County, scoring ten times. Like so many of his generation, Nish joined
the NASL in its infancy, joining Tulsa Roughnecks in February 1979, that
commanded a £10,000 transfer fee, making 28 appearances,
scoring six. He returned to the NASL a year
later with Seattle Sounders, making another 57 appearances
scoring four times. He also scored six goals in five
indoor games for the Sounders. And scored once in sixteen indoor
appearances for San José Earthquakes. Returned to Leicester for a couple of seasons
before seeing out his days with Midland League outfit Shepshed
Charterhouse FC in April 1982. |
