census, Charles H. is also now a brewers labourer, and is one of five
children at 335 Uxbridge Street in Burton with is widowed father, who
remains a brewers labourer also. |
According to the 1901
census, Charlie is a professional football player boarding with his wife,
Annie, at the home of Chris Harper, at 64 Liverton Street in Cleethorpes. |
According to the 1911
census, 'C' is an invald hewer living with his wife at 83 Kennington Road
in Radford area of Nottingham. Along with the twelve year old Mabel, they
have a two month old son, Leslie. The census reveals that four more of
their children have tragically died. |

Began his junior career
with Gresley Rovers FC, then Newsyead Byron FC, before joining Notts County FC in 1895. Joined
rivals Nottingham Forest FC at the beginning of 1896
and
from January of that year, made 74 league appearances, scoring twenty goals. He moved onto
Grimsby Town FC in December 1898, making
another eighty league appearances, and scoring another 42 goals. Transferred to Leicester Fosse FC in
June 1901 for another 25 league appearances and
five goals, and finally to the recently renamed Manchester United FC for
the end of the 1901-02 season, making just
eight league outings, scoring once. In March 1903, Richards joined Doncaster Rovers FC. He made a final
seven league appearances, but it was not enough to keep Rovers up
and both Doncaster and Richards dropped out of the league. |
