census, Ernald, a colliery trammer, is the youngest of five children
remaining at home with their parents still in Riddings High Street. They
now have one servant though. His father is now a hewer in the coalmines. |

Played junior football in Alfreton, before playing for Riddings St James'
FC, and then joining Ripley Athletic FC. Derby County FC signed
Scattergood for £11 in August 1907. After
192 league appearances, in which he managed to score three goals from the
penalty spot, on 17 October 1914, he joined
Bradford FC for a considerable transfer fee. Retired in 1925. |
