Alex Bonsor, a forward, played the first ten minutes in goal for England against Scotland on 6 March 1875, until William Carr's arrival.  He kept a clean sheet.
Jack Ball, an inside left, went in goal at halftime for England, in the match against Ireland on 22 October 1927, Ted Hufton injured his wrist and could not play the second half.  Both Ball and Hufton conceded one goal each.
Both are essentially outfield players simply covering lateness, or injury, and are therefore not included in this list.

Evolution of the First Goal Conceded by number of minutes

Once the first England goalkeeper kept a clean sheet for an entire match - Jack Rawlinson in February 1882 - so began the record of which which goalkeeper could hold out the longest. This is a list of goalkeepers, and their individual records of when they conceded their first England goal.
