Club Career |
Club(s) |
Began his career as an Ipswich Town FC trainee, signing professionally on 2 January 1995. After 240 league appearances,
Wright signed for Arsenal FC on 3 July 2001 for £6 million, but made just twelve Premier League appearances. Joined Everton
FC a year later on 26 July 2002 for £3½ million, making another
sixty Premier League appearances. But his time was plagued with
self-inflicted injuries, and soon was released, joining West Ham United on
4 July 2007. He was loaned to Southampton FC on 20 March 2008 for the rest
of the season, making seven Premier League appearances. Wright made
no league appearances for Hammers, so rejoined Ipswich Town FC on 21
July 2008 for an undisclosed fee. Making another 58 league appearances,
before again being released and joining Sheffield United on 21 September
2010, making just two league appearances. A return to Ipswich Town
FC on 23 November 2011 saw him make just one league appearance in
2011-12. Wright then joined Preston North End FC on 1 July 2012, for
one week. Following a trial with Colchester United FC, Wright signed for
Manchester City on 30 August 2012, as a player-coach. He
retired on 17 May 2016 without making a single first-team appearance. |

minutes are an approximation, due to the fact that many matches rarely stick to exactly ninety minutes long, allowing time for injuries and errors. |
