Club(s) |
Johnstone has been a product of the Manchester United FC academy
since 2006. After signing on 1 April 2011, he was sent out to various league clubs on loan.
On 26 July 2011, he first joined Oldham Athletic AFC, but only played in
pre-season friendlies and he returned to join Scunthorpe United FC on 9
September 2011. He returned to United on 10 January 2012. It wasn't until
20 March 2013 when Johnstone was sent out again, spending the rest of the
2013-14 season at Walsall FC. On 17 August 2013, he was then sent on a
three-month loan stint to Yeovil Town FC. On 31 January 2014, he was sent
on loan to Doncaster Rovers FC for the remainder of the season, returning
the following season on 27 October 2014 until the new year. Then on 12
January 2015, he returned home with a loan to Preston North End FC,
helping them win promotion. In July 2015, Johnstone played in pre-season
friendlies in United States with United and made the bench for the early season
Premier League matches. On the last day of 2015, he returned to North End
on a months' loan deal. On 5 January 2017, he joined Aston Villa FC on
loan for the remainder of the season, and on 14 July, signed on for the
upcoming season. On 3 July 2018, Johnstone left United permanently when he
signed for West Bromwich Albion FC for a £6½ million transfer fee.
After four years, and at the end of his contract, Johnstone
had joined Crystal Palace FC on 21 June 2022. Joined Wolverhampton
Wanderers FC on Transfer Deadline Day, 30 August 2024, for £10 million. |
