Nicknames Rinus Michels Stadion -  Following the death of Rinus Michels, the former AFC Ajax player, in 2005, supporters lobbied the stadium's board to rename the stadium as the Rinus Michels Stadium.  The board declined, but at every home game there is a large banner displaying the words 'Rinus Michels Stadion'.
