Match Report as appears in the Daily Herald, Thursday, 19 May 1949

Jack Rowley scored three of England's goals against Holland and Eric Parson's got the other in the 4—0 win watched by 60,000 people in Amsterdam. All the goals came in the second half, the England forwards developing few good combined movements before the interval.
A notable feature was that almost all the English players were faster than their opponents. Langton and Parsons repeatedly swept past the Dutch full-backs at top speed. The victory would have been more pronounced with a little more steadiness in front of goal. Outstanding were Rowley and the three half-backs, who kept a tight grip on the nippy Dutch forwards.
After a goal had been claimed when Langton's shot appeared to cross the line.  Rowley had been claimed when Langton's shot appeared to cross the line. Rowley opened the scoring after 59 minutes, and he got a second goal five minutes later after tricking three men. Parsons made it three a minute later when the advancing Dutch goalkeeper misjudged a centre. Rowley scored his third goal eight minutes from time.
"The English team recovered the form they so surprisingly lost in Sweden." said Mr. H. Shentall, F.A. official with the team.

Match Report as appears in the F.A. Yearbook 1949-50, page 26

The first English goal came in the fifty-ninth minute. Rowley took a centre from Parsons and put it through to Bentley, who scored. Two more goals came quickly, and in seven minutes England led 3-0. Rowley got a second goal with a fine solo effort and a minute later Parsons netted, due to a misjudgment of a dropping shot by the Dutch goalkeeper. Eight minutes from the finish Gibson hit the crossbar with a header and Rowley, rushing up, put the ball into the net.
