Background |
The seventeenth European Championship Finals were awarded to Germany, for
a third time, on 27 September 2018 in Nyon, Switzerland.
On 8 March 2017, UEFA announced
that only two countries had expressed an interest in the hosting of the
Tournament before the 3 March deadline:- Germany and Turkey.
Germany gained twelve votes, Turkey four, with one abstention. Of the
twenty members of the Executive Committee, only seventeen voted. Two
others were ineligible and another absent.
Ten venues were selected,
nine of which were used in the 2006 World Cup Finals tournament.
