Diary

Monday, 7 January 1901 - "To-night a proposal is to be considered by the council of the Football Association that return matches between representative German and English teams be played in September next, and the Football Association should send a team at Easter, 1902, to play matches at Frankfurt, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Zurich, Geneva, and Paris. The Western Australian and New Zealand Football Association have also appealed to the English Football Association to assist them to popularise football in those colonies by playing exhibition matches there, and this proposal will also be considered at the meeting ton-night.":- The matter regarding sending a team to Australasia is referred to the International Selection Committee.

Tuesday, 8 January 1901 -
"Herr Bensemann attended on behalf of the Football Association of Germany to inquire as to the International match next September, but it was decided to defer the matter."

Friday, 19 April 1901 - "The International Selection Committee considered the question of return matches between England and Germany, and decided to play two games in September next—one in the South on a Saturday, and the second in the North in mid-week. For the Southern match a Southern team will be selected, while a professional side will do duty in the North."

Saturday, 25 August 1901 - "The Selection Committee has chosen Tottenham Hotspur ground for the first international match against Germany on Saturday, Sept. 21. The English team on that occasion will be composed wholly of amateurs, but owing to many players now being on their holidays, the side is not definitely chosen. For the second match, to be played on Manchester City ground on Sept. 25, the professional team against Germany has, it is been understood, been completed. The Football Association will entertain the German and English players after each match."
