Barnes joined the Leicester City FC academy as the age of nine, working
his way through the youth levels to sign his professional contract on 25
June 2016. On 20 January 2017, Barnes joined Milton Keynes Dons on loan
for the rest of the season. He was then loaned to Barnsley FC for the
season on 11 August 2017, however, he was recalled by City on 1 January
2018. The following season, Barnes had agreed a loan deal with Leeds
United AFC, however, the deal fell through at the final moment and
instead, on 24 July 2018, he joined West Bromwich Albion FC on loan for
the season. However, he was recalled again by City, on 11 January 2019.
After City's relegation, Barnes was subject to links with Newcastle United
FC, whom he eventually signed for on 23 July 2023 for a £38 million fee. |
