Tuchel began his youth career as a defender under his father at
TSV Krumbach, before moving onto FC Augsburg in 1988, and was released as
a 19 year old without making a first team appearance. He joined
2.Bundesliga side Sv Stuttgarter Kickers in 1992, scoring once in
eight Bundesliga appearances. After he was dropped, Tuchel joined
SSV Ulm, where he would make 69 Regionaliga Süd appearances and scoring
twice, before a knee cartilage injury curtailed his career in
1998, at the age of 25, and he turned to coaching. |

Began coaching he youth team in 2000 under Ralf
Rangnick at VfB Stuttgart,
after winning the U19 title, he was released. Returned to FC
Augsburg in 2005 as a youth team coordinator stepping up as a first team
coach of the reserve team in 2007. 1.FSV Mainz 05 appointed Tuchel on 2
August 2009, initially as youth coach, but stepped into the manager's role
after one season, stepping down on 11 May 2014. On 19 April 2015, Tuchel
was announced as Jurgen Klopp's replacement at BvB Borussia 09 Dortmund.
He was sacked on 30 May 2017. After another year, he replaced Unai Emery
as Paris Saint-Germain manager on 14 May 2018, after rejecting an offer
from FC Bayern München. He was sacked on 24 December 2020. He then
replaced Frank Lampard as Chelsea Head Coach on 26 January 2021, and
sacked on 7 September 2022. FC Bayern Munchen finally got their man on 24
March 2023 when he was appointed to replace Jilian Nagelsmann as Head
Coach. On 21 February 2024, it was announced that Tuchel would step down
at the end of the current season. |
