"PLAYERS' CLAIMS FOR DAMAGES FAILS.
"Harry Chambers, the Liverpool footballer, failed in an action at Liverpool Assizes on Monday to recover damages for injuries in a road smash.
"He alleged that Leonard Favell Gee, a tin box manufacturer, while driving a motor-car ran into him while he was cycling and injured his knee.
"The result was that after playing in 96 consecutive matches he was dropped from the Liverpool team because, owing to leg cramp, he could not keep up the pace.

"Chambers denied that a basket full of beer bottles was on his handle-bars, but the defence called witnesses, including a policeman, who said that this was the case. At a previous hearing it was stated that Chambers had gone on the bicycle to get beer and cigarettes for a party he was attending.
"Judgment was entered for Gee with costs."
