Match Report |
The
international match between Wales and England, at Cardiff, yesterday,
ended in a drawn game, neither side scoring a goal. The match was played
in windy, showery weather, and a rather bare and greasy surface further
helped to produce a poor game. The championship now depends upon the
match at Glasgow between Scotland and England, for, whereas the former
country have beaten both Ireland and Wales, England have beaten Ireland,
but only drawn against Wales. - The

IN OTHER NEWS...
It was on 14 March
1921 that six Irish Republican Army prisoners were hanged at Mountjoy
Prison in Dublin, prompting violent reprisals, culminating in a brief,
but bloody battle when a company of auxiliary forces were ambushed as
they arrived to raid an IRA meeting house. Seven were killed (two from
each side), including three civilians. One of the IRA men captured,
Thomas Traynor, was hanged the following month. With a bomb exploding
near the police station and several other isolated incidents, it had
been one of the most violent days in the Irish War of Independence.

Source Notes
|
*Most sources state that Harold
Millership was born in Chirk in 1889, but there is no registration to
complete this information, at all. Some sources also state that
David Rees Williams was born in Merthyr Tydfil in January 1900.
Again, there is no registration for that period, there is for March 1899
and then June and September 1901, however.
