Signed as an Aston Villa FC apprentice
on 18 May 1982. After 181 league appearances and 39 goals,
Rangers FC paid £½million for his services on 31
December 1987, where he scored 32 goals in 106 Scottish Premier
League appearances. Everton FC made a £1 million enquiry on
Walters while he was on England duty in Malaysia. But it was Liverpool FC
that brought him back to England
on 13 August 1991 for £1¼ million. He returned 94 league
appearances with fourteen goals, during which time he was loaned
to Stoke City FC, a transfer deadline day deal on 24 March 1994. Walters
scored twice in nine league outings before the season's
ending. The following season, on 9 September 1994, Walters was loaned to
Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, where he scored three goals in nine
league appearances. Eventually, Walters was allowed to leave
Liverpool FC on a free, and it was Southampton FC, on 18 January 1996,
that signed Walters, but he only made five Premier League
appearances before being allowed to leave for Swindon Town FC on
31 July 1996, where he made 112 league appearances and scored 27
goals, until he was released on 17 November 1999. His wages being
to blame. The 35-year old signed for Bristol Rovers FC, and
following 82 league appearances and thirteen goals, he retired on
26 April 2002 having made eaxactly 600 league appearances, and
scoring 128 goals. |

minutes are an approximation, due to the fact that many matches rarely stick to exactly ninety minutes long, allowing time for injuries and errors. |
