Despite
a
navy-blue
goalkeeper's kit being introduced for the Easter international against
Mexico, the FA saw fit to send David Seaman out in another blue kit (paired with
black shorts and socks), just two months later.
It is difficult to understand why
this was necessary, especially as it disappeared after only two games, both
played at the end of the 1996-97 season.
The shirt in the first two photos (above
left) was worn by David Seaman against Brazil. It appears here by kind
permission of the Neville Evans National Football Shirt Collection (curator Simon Shakeshaft).
Above right is a back view of
Rhys Evans' youth shirt,
without his name on it. It is part of Ed Holland's
Wolves Football Shirts Instagram collection
(front view is at the bottom of the page).
