Description
	Black shirt, with mesh panel down each side of shirt covering underarm and inner sleeve. Thick red hem at the bottom of the reverse of the shirt. Large red cross on right shoulder, each line narrowing to a point. Vertical line extends beyond right breast and around right sleeve on reverse down to underarm mesh border. Small red cross in a white diamond at the back of the neck. Embroidered emblem on left breast, with 'ENGLAND' in capitalised white lettering inside a navy blue panel above the emblem, and a small gold star above the panel. Two embroidered white concentric diamonds on right breast. Silver number one on reverse and in centre of chest in same font as previous England shirts. Shadow emblem at base of each number on reverse, with 'ENGLAND' in capitalised white lettering inside a navy blue panel above the emblem. Small circular holographic label attached to left hip, containing emblem, with 'ENGLAND' in capitalised white lettering inside a navy blue panel above the emblem. Thin white plastic strip running down left hip to the hem, to the left of the label. Surname in capitalised silver lettering above number on reverse, in same font as the numbers. Match details embroidered in silver, underneath number on chest in following format (not actual font):

	Black shorts, with black drawstring. Red shard down each side, running diagonally from a point just below the waistline inwards, before turning at right angles (and curved at the opposite edge) back towards the seams and narrowing to a point. Two embroidered white concentric diamonds on left thigh. Silver number, in the same font as on the shirt, above the Umbro logo on left thigh. Embroidered emblem on right thigh, with 'ENGLAND' in capitalised white lettering inside a navy blue panel above the emblem. Black socks, with two large white concentric diamonds on calf.
Variations	Against Azerbaijan, England had a black and white FIFA WORLD CUP GERMANY 2006 logo heat-pressed onto the upper right sleeve. Against Sweden, England had a full-colour FIFA WORLD CUP GERMANY 2006 logo embroidered onto the upper right sleeve. The names of England's opponents, as they appeared in the match details, were AZERBAIJAN, SWEDEN and USA. England were named first against Azerbaijan and second in the other two fixtures. Against Sweden, the number one on the reverse and on the chest, were changed to gold mesh. The number on the reverse had a white emblem at the base, with 'ENGLAND' in capitalised gold lettering inside a white panel above the emblem, and the surname was in capitalised gold lettering above the number on the reverse, in the same font as the numbers. A small gold holographic star was above the emblem on the left breast, containing an emblem, with 'ENGLAND' in capitalised navy blue lettering inside a white panel above the emblem. The number on the left thigh of the shorts was gold.

This black, or dark-grey kit, was introduced just four days after an all-blue uniform of exactly the same design was launched. It was to be used initially as a second-choice kit when England met opponents in blue shirts. Because the two shirts were of a similar dark colour, it was not immediately apparent that there were, in fact, two distinct shirts, so our thanks to Mark Allen for pointing this out to us and to Daniel Gellatley for proving that the shorts and socks were also black. For its final appearance, against Sweden, the match details and numbering on the kit changed to gold to match the red kit that it was worn with.
