3.5 - Paul Robinson |
This
all-blue outfit was introduced alongside
England's 2005 home kit
and only appeared for the duration of that year, although the socks had
been worn in November 2004 with the
alternative yellow kit. An almost identical
black
shirt of the same design was introduced four days after the full kit
was worn. In fact, because this shirt was dark navy, it was
only when comparing the two, that it became apparent that they were, indeed,
different shirts.
England put in some impressive performances in
qualifying for the 2006 World Cup and Paul Robinson reinforced his standing as
first-choice, especially when his predecessor, David James replaced him after a
goalless first half in Denmark, before conceding four goals and then admitting
that he hadn't prepared himself properly for his appearance. |
