A ground-breaking

new style of England kit was released on 17 March 2016 in the form of both
home and away versions. There were eye-catching blue-grey sleeves, together with
red socks, worn for the first time in the first-choice kit since 1962 (though
intended as a reminder of the 1984 victory in Rio).
Despite the startling shake-up to England's traditional colour
combinations, the two kits were just more examples of Nike's Vapor
template, a familiar sight at the 2016 European Championship. Both
finalists had almost identical Vapor designs in different colours.
England, meanwhile, were settling into a worrying pattern of
under-achievement. They had a young team of Premier League talents that
beat all four of the Euro 2016 semi-finalists in the run-up to (and
including Wales, during) the tournament, yet they were out-fought, both
mentally and physically by an Iceland team that had far exceeded its own
expectations. England were left like a terrified bunch of rabbits caught
		in the headlights.
Clearly, Gareth Southgate had a lot of work to do to restore some pride
and give England back the belief that it did have the ability to
		compete on the world stage.

			The all-white kit (with
blue-grey sleeves) was also worn when
England won the 2017 Under-20 World Cup in South Korea, beating
Venezuela, 1-0 in the final in Suwon. Match details were added
beneath the emblem for the only time in the tournament, and they
included the venue, as per the details worn at Euro 2016. The
players wore the FIFA fair play logo on the left sleeve
and the FIFA U-20 WORLD CUP KOREA REP. 2017 logo on the right
sleeve. England captain, Lewis Cook wore a yellow armband, with FIFA
MY GAME IS FAIR PLAY in blue.
This kit was worn again when
England won the 2017 UEFA Under-19 Championship in Georgia, beating
Portugal, 2-1 in the final in Gori. Match details were added
beneath the emblem for the only time in the tournament, but did not
include the venue. Some players switched to shirts without any match
details for the second half. The UEFA RESPECT logo was worn on the
left sleeve and the tournament logo on the right sleeve. England
captain, Jay Dasilva wore a blue armband which featured the NO TO
			RACISM and UEFA RESPECT logos.
			An incredible hat-trick was
achieved when England won the 2017 Under-17 World Cup in India,
beating Spain, 5-2 in the final in Kolkata, once again wearing this
kit. Match details were added beneath the emblem for the only time
in the tournament, including the venue. The players wore the FIFA
fair play logo on the left sleeve and the FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP INDIA
2017 logo on the right sleeve. England captain, Joel Latibeaudiere
wore a blue armband, with FIFA MY GAME IS FAIR PLAY in white. |
