Match Report
by Norman Giller |
Romania's talented Gheorghe Hagi hit
the woodwork twice in this World Cup qualifier before Glenn Hoddle calmed
England's nerves with a beautifully constructed goal after he had run on
to a free-kick from Kenny Sansom. Cămătaru equalised in the second-half
with the England defenders standing still appealing for a handling offence
that escaped the notice of the referee. England still needed two points
from their last two home games to guarantee a place in the World Cup
finals in Mexico.

Source Notes |
Wembley Stadium
introduced a special section to cater for families, offering a half-price
seat for youngsters accompanied by an adult. Nearly 8,000 took advantage
of the scheme.
