Friday, 29 August 2014 - Vladimir Petković names his first squad, which includes eighteen players from the World Cup Finals in Brazil last summer.

Wednesday, 3 September 2014 - Both Valon Behrami and Admir Mehmedi missed today's training session, because of thigh injuries.  It is the second day that Behrami has missed training, but both should recover to be fit for the match against England next week.

Friday, 5 September 2014 - Switzerland win a training match against Rapperswil-Jona FC by 6 goals to nothing. All the goals came after the break - three of them by Josip Drmić. 22 of the 23 squad players featured, only goalkeeper Roman Bürki missed out because of a minor muscle problem in his left thigh.  Petković confirmed that with the formations in both halves, his team played in a 4-3-3 system.
