Diary
Tuesday, 1 October 2019 - Czech Republic's
coach Jaroslav Šilhavý has announced his squad to take on England and then
Northern Ireland. There was a
change in the choice
between the three goalkeepers, when together with Tomáš Vaclík and Jiří
Pavlenka, Ondřej Kolář from Slavia was called to the national team.
Slavia
Praha's
has dominated
the
representation amongst
the defenders, when in addition to Bořil, Coufal and Kúdela, David Hovorka, who
was also picked
in 2017 for the match against
Northern Ireland. Marek
Suchý misses out.
"They play very well and they convinced us with their performances in
the Champions League Marek Suchý
and Tomáš Kalas are missing. The loss of Mark is obviously not ideal, but we
have to manage it without him." said Šilhavý.
"I've been watching David Hovorka for a long time,
I like his character on the pitch. I've never worked with him directly in the
team, but he can see how he is experiencing matches and has a lot of enthusiasm."
Regarding
David Pavelka, who missed
out on last month's squad because of
injury. "David is the driver and we are very happy that he is back in our team
because he is an important player of our center together with Tomáš Soucek."
Šilhavý also named a list of reserves:- Tomáš Koubek; Lukáš Hejda, Tomáš
Holeš, Radim Řezník, Stefan Simič; Antonín Barák, Václav Černý, Adam Hložek, Tomáš Hořava, Lukáš Kalvach, Tomáš Přikryl, Michal Sadílek, Michal Trávník, Matěj Vydra, Jaromír Zmrhall; Martin Doležal, Tomáš Chorý, Jan Matoušek, Tomáš Necid, Zdeněk Ondrášek, Milan Škoda.
Wednesday, 2 October 2019 - FC Dallas striker Zdeněk Ondrášek
has been called
up to the squad for the first time. Šilhavý has decided to call him up
based on his performances in the MLS, where he has scored five goals since
the middle of August. Thirty year-old Ondrášek's previous international
experience comes in the form of three under-21 appearances.
Sunday, 6 October 2019 - David Pavelka
was withdrawn from the squad because of a knee injury, for which he has
had to undergo surgery. FC Viktoria's Lukáš Kalvach has been drafted in as
his replacement.
Monday, 7 October 2019
- On the team's first day of training at the home of FK Viktoria, David Hovorka and Filip Novák have both pulled out of the squad
because of injuries. They have been replaced by Stefan Simič and Jaromír
Zmrhal.
Tuesday, 8 October 2019 -
More changes in the squad as Pavel Kadeřábek returns to his club because
of illness. FC Viktoria's Radim Řezník has taken his place.
