Played his
junior football with Whitehaven & District Boys, and joined his local side
Cleater Moor Celtic in 1941, then turned out for Workington FC in 1942.
Over the next couple of years, he had trials with Brentford FC and
Millwall FC, but proved unsuccessful and he moved to Gravesend FC for the
1944-45 season. He spent the next season at Freelands FC, and then
Altrincham FC in April 1946. West Bromwich Albion FC signed Kennedy as a
professional in December 1948, and paid a £750 transfer fee. He began his
career as an inside-right, but was moved to the half-back line in 1952.
After completing 364 league appearances, and scoring three goals, he
joined Chester FC on a free transfer in June 1962. He made another 35
league appearances. Kennedy joined Stourbridge FC as a
player-manager in August 1962 and later turned out for his works team,
Brockhouse Works FC. He retired from playing in 1966. |
