Lincoln's defeat allowed Rotherham to close the gap, and they went
top, with three games to play, two days later, by winning their game
in hand. The two then met, two weeks later, in, what turned out to be,
a title decider at Rotherham. Lincoln won 2-0 and did not drop another
point or concede another goal. They returned to the second division,
though it would only be for one season before relegation back to the
third.
