Diary
Thursday, 9 November 2023 -
Gareth Southgate names his 25-man squad,
the last squad of 2023. It sees a recall for Newcastle United's Callum
Wilson, who replaces Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah, who picked up an injury
last week. However, Wilson, also picked up an injury in United's
recent loss to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. James Maddison and Bukayo
Saka make the squad despite their recent injury concerns. Raheem
Sterling misses out on a fifth consecutive squad, despite calls for
his inclusion. John Stones does miss out because of injury. Reece
James, who is still recovering from injury, was told by his club that
he could not be considered for a recall while he recuperates.
Friday morning, 10 November 2023 -
James Maddison has withdrawn from the England squad with an ankle
injury. The 26 year-old sustained the injury in Tottenham's loss to
Chelsea on Monday. His club have said that Maddison will remain at
Hotspur Way for rehabilitation with their own medical staff.
Saturday, 11
November 2023 - In the first League programme since the
announcement of the squad, there are varying fortunes for members of
the squad. By far the happiest will be Harry Kane who scored yet
another brace for Bayern Munich, making him the first player in
Bundesliga history to score seventeen goals in the first 11 matchdays.
There are appearances also for Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, who helped
Arsenal secure victory. Jordan Pickford's
Everton were victorious over Sam Johnstone's Crystal Palace, which
also featured Marc Guéhi. Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford
both featured as Manchester United secured another victory. Fikayo
Tomori was involved in AC Milan's draw and Kieran Trippier was
involved in Newcastle United's defeat.
However, Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson and Callum Wilson
both miss out on their respective matchday squads. Aaron Ramsdale
remained on the bench. Bellingham is expected to be out for the
next two weeks after he was diagnosed with 'instability in his left
shoulder, as a result of a recent dislocation.' There is no official
word from the England camp.
Sunday, 12 November 2023 -
More Premier League matches today involving squad members. Both Jarrod
Bowen and Ollie Watkins are on the scoresheet for their respective
sides. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Phil Foden and Kyle Walker all feature,
as does Jack Grealish, off the substitutes bench. However, Levi
Colwill misses out because of his injury.
Monday, 13 November 2023 - Ezri Konsa,
Cole Palmer and Rico Lewis have all received their first call-ups to
the senior squad. Aston Villa's defender Konsa was a FIFA U20 World
Cup winner. Chelsea forward Palmer has represented various levels of
England youth, as has Manchester City's Lewis. Their addition follows
the withdrawal of Maddison (ankle), Lewis Dunk (groin) and Callum Wilson
(hamstring). The rest of
the squad will arrive at St. George's Park today for medical assessments.

Tuesday, 14
November 2023 - Jude Bellingham (shoulder) and Levi Colwill
(also shoulder) have both, as expected, withdrawn from the squad
because of injury and returned to their clubs for rehabilitation.
Marcus Rashford and Kalvin Phillips have yet to arrive at St. George's
Park, and will join up later in the week as they deal with personal
matters. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Gallagher and Harry Maguire
are carrying out personal recovery programmes and have not trained
with the remaining members of the squad at a rainy St. George's Park.
Thursday, 16
November 2023 - Training continues at St. George's Park as
under-21 captain Taylor Harwood-Bellis joins the seniors in today's
session. It is the final outing at St. George's Park this year. They
relocate to Tottenham Hotspur's Training Centre in Enfield in the
evening.
