      | Description | | | | |
      | White short-sleeved shirt,
with small overlapping v-neck adjoining a white rectangular insert, and
		a pattern of tiny
crosses in red, blue, green and purple across the shoulders,
Large embroidered emblem on left breast, alongside neck insert.
Embroidered white star above the emblem. Lower-case 'v' in red (for home
games) and blue (for games played away from home) below the emblem. A
white scroll, outlined in blue, below the 'v', with the opponent's name
in capitalised blue lettering within it, and the year in red (for home
games) and blue (for away games) below the scroll. Two embroidered blue
concentric diamonds on right breast, alongside neck insert. Blue number,
bordered in a lighter blue on reverse and on right breast below the
Umbro logo. Surname in capitalised blue lettering above number on
reverse, in same font as the numbers.
		Blue shorts, with
blue drawstring. Plain white number on left thigh in same font as on
shirt, with two white concentric diamonds underneath. Embroidered emblem on right thigh. White socks, with
blue tops, toes and heels. In the five
		friendly games, England's captain
wore a red armband with the emblem, a lower-case 'v' in white below the
emblem, a white scroll, outlined in blue, below the 'v', with the
opponent's name in capitalised blue lettering within it and the year in
white below the scroll. The armbands worn in the European Championship
qualification fixtures were blue and featured the UNITE AGAINST RACISM logo. |
      | Variations |

		A
long-sleeved version of the shirt was also worn, though a number of
players wore a white base layer underneath, instead. There were no
distinguishing features on the lower sleeves.
		The
shirts worn by Ashley Cole, and Adam and Glen Johnson also included their first initial
		i.e. A. COLE, A. JOHNSON and G. JOHNSON.
		For the
		six European Championship qualifying fixtures,
		England had logos embroidered
onto the upper sleeves. The UEFA EURO 2012 QUALIFIERS logo was on the
right arm and the UEFA RESPECT logo was on the left arm.
		The names of
England's opponents, as they appeared in the scrolls, were BULGARIA,
DENMARK, FRANCE, GHANA, MONTENEGRO, SPAIN, SWEDEN, SWITZERLAND and WALES. |
      | Most Appearances |
		10 - James Milner (2 sub)
		9 - Gareth Barry (2
		sub)
		8 - Ashley Cole, Glen
		Johnson, Ashley Young (4 sub)

		Ten players won their first
cap in the shirt. For three of them, it was their only international
appearance, but Gary Cahill went on to appear 61 times for England.
		Seven other players appeared in
an England shirt for the last time, with Rio Ferdinand bowing out after
		81 full internationals. |
      | Top Scorers |
		3 - Darren Bent, Jermain
Defoe, Frank Lampard (2 pens.), Ashley Young

Defoe's goals all came in a
hat-trick against Bulgaria on this shirt's first appearance.
		Four players scored their first
goal for England in this shirt, with Ashley Young going on to hit seven.
		Peter Crouch's remarkable
England scoring record ended when he came on as a substitute for his
42nd and last appearance, in the 84th minute against France and scored
within two minutes, his 22nd and last international goal. |
      | Captains | 4 -
	John Terry 2 -
Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard 1 -
	Gareth Barry

		Capello used five captains
in eleven games. His original choice (Ferdinand) made his last
international appearance in this shirt, but it was Terry who was
selected as his last skipper and it was a decision that would ultimately
lead to Capello's departure as manager, following Terry's
34th and last match as captain.
		Barry and Lampard both
captained England for the first time. For Barry, it was a once-only
		honour. |

      |
Following a decade of releasing a new
		white kit every other year,
England suddenly introduced a new one for the first competitive fixture of
the 2010-11 season, only 17 months after the
		previous white
		kit had
		been launched.
With most English clubs now changing their
home kits every season, it appeared that the
national team was intent on following suit, which was a shame, because
the shirt it replaced had been the most popular England shirt for some
		time.
		However, the retro-minimalist theme
continued with a shirt designed by Peter Saville. At first glance, it
appeared that the only difference was the replacement of the old-style
collar with a square collar and more open neckline, but closer
inspection revealed a pattern of tiny St. George crosses in red, blue,
green and purple across the shoulders, although, as many pointed out,
they could not be St. George crosses if they were not red. They symbolised the
		multi-cultural society of England.
After following the trend of other nations
switching to a single colour for the entire kit, England now
switched back to blue shorts, though this time in royal blue, a shade
not seen since the Admiral days of the early 1980s. The royal-blue theme
continued with the tops of the socks, whilst the names and numbers, and
the Umbro logo on the shirt, which had previously been red, were also
switched to royal blue. The Under-20 and Under-21 teams each,
on occasions, wore a matching pair of white shorts (with white
drawstring, plain blue number on left thigh, with Umbro logo underneath
and emblem on right thigh) turning it into an
		all-white kit.
Due to the new-kit cycle speeding up, this
outfit was used for the European Championship qualifying campaign, but
did not see the tournament itself, when England appeared in Ukraine,
		back again in all
white. The period also brought to an end the reign of Fabio Capello,
but that decision would not be made until three months after the kit was
worn for the last time. He did, at least, sign off with England having
completed 2011 without defeat, culminating in morale-boosting victories
against the World and European Champions, Spain, and, for the first time
		since 1968, Sweden. |
