All information is complete to and including England's last match, the tenth of the 2025-26 season, against Costa Rica on 10 June 2026.

Diary

Wednesday, 11 February 2026 - England will complete their World Cup preparations with matches against New Zealand and Costa Rica in Florida in June. The Three Lions will be based in Kansas City, Missouri for the tournament. England will hold their pre-tournament training camp in Florida and face New Zealand on Saturday, 6 June before taking on Costa Rica on Wednesday, 10 June. England's training base for the tournament will be the state-of-the-art Swope Soccer Village, after the FA identified Kansas City as its preferred location in January 2025. Swope Soccer Village is a training facility of MLS club Sporting Kansas City, located in Kansas City's Swope Park. England will travel to each location from their Kansas City base and return after each game.

Thurday, 9 April 2026 - The Football Association have confirmed England's pre-World Cup Finals itinary. They will fly to Florida on 1 June for a training camp and play a friendly against New Zealand at Raymond James Stadium on the 6th. They will then travel to Orlando's Inter&Co Stadium four days later to face Costa Rica. England were due to play their second friendly at Inter Miami’s new stadium but after an agreement could not be reached and that included the MLS club’s recent temporary home in Fort Lauderdale, it was agreed to switch the match to the home of MLS side Orlando City which has a 25,000 capacity.

Monday, 11 May 2026 - Thomas Tuchel has submitted a provisional squad of between 35 and 55 names, as per FIFA requirements. That list will probably include those players included in the most recent squads, but also includes Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarrad Branthwaite, Alex Scott, Luke Shaw and Danny Welbeck.

Tuesday, 12 May 2026 -
Arsenal defender Ben White will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury and is set to miss out on England's World Cup campaign. The 28-year-old picked up the injury in the first half of Arsenal's 1-0 win at West Ham on Sunday and was seen leaving London Stadium in a knee brace. In a statement, the club said White has sustained a "significant medial ligament injury" which will rule him out of the last two Premier League games and the Champions League final on 30 May. "Our medical team are now managing Ben's recovery and rehabilitation programme, with everyone fully focused on supporting the aim of Ben being ready for the start of our pre-season preparations."

Thursday, 21 May 2026 -
Phil Foden and Cole Palmer are set to miss on this summer's World Cup. Harry Maguire will also be left out, with the 33-year-old saying he is "shocked and gutted" at the decision. Ollie Watkins is set to be included - after helping his side win the Europa League on Wednesday - alongside Ivan Toney, who has scored 32 goals in 32 games in the Saudi Arabian league this season. Morgan Gibbs-White is set to miss out, despite being the top-scoring English player in the Premier League this season. Luke Shaw is also set to be omitted despite his impressive season. Levi Colwill and Fikayo Tomori are expected to be left out, though Noni Madueke is expected to make the cut. He joins his Premier League-winning team-mates Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Ebere Eze. The omissions of Maguire, Tomori and Colwill mean Manchester City defender John Stones is very likely to be included, despite his injury-disrupted campaign. Tuchel views Stones as a key player but has been concerned about the departing Manchester City man's fitness. Adam Wharton is another poised to miss out, but Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is set to keep his place in the squad after earning a recall for the previous friendlies. There is an expectation that Brentford midfielder Jordan Henderson, who has been a mainstay under Tuchel, will keep his place.

Friday, 22 May 2026, 10am - Thomas Tuchel names his 26-man World Cup Finals squad, revealed in a live broadcast from the National Stadium via the England app. The squad was announced with a film soundtracked by The Beatles’ Come Together. Filmed in New York and directed by Keane Shaw and Pete Martin, the film revealed each player’s name brought to life across the cityscape, bringing in subtle references to The Beatles and the British Invasion during the 1960s. However, because of leaks since yesterday, the squad is generally known, with no additional surprises. However, Tuchel does confirm that three youngsters will join the Orlando Camp: Liverpool's Rio Ngumoha, Fulham's Josh King, and Bournemouth's Alex Scott. A fourth will be added in due course when their availability is confirmed.
The squad will come together from Monday 1 June at their preperation camp in Palm Beach, Florida, excluding those players from Arsenal and Crystal Palace, who will arrive following their respective European club finals. The entire squad will then head to the team’s base in Kansas City on Saturday, 13 June.

Saturday, 23 May 2026 - The fourth youngster added to squad to assist the seniors, is Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri. Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele has also been invited to the Florida camp.

Friday evening, 29 May 2026 - A day after Anthony Gordon has traveled to FC Barcelona for a medical, it is announced that he has signed a five year contract, for a transfer fee set at £69.3 million, effective 1 July. It ends 3½ years on Tyneside.

Monday, 1 June 2026 - England, without Arsenal's Declan Rice, Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka plus Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson, have arrived in the United States to begin their tournament preparations. Thomas Tuchel and a number of his squad flew from Birmingham Airport (10.20am) to Florida today for their pre-World Cup camp in West Palm Beach, on board a Virgin Atlantic Airbus A350-1041 (VIR697), arriving at 6.38pm (2.38pm local time).

Tuesday, 2 June 2026 -
England's first training session takes place this morning, with temperatures forecast at 28ᶜ to 31ᶜ. All 26 players are participating, with the reserves covering for the Arsenal and Palace players.
At 3pm (BST), the squad numbers were released.

Wednesday, 3 June 2026 - Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is poised to make his England debut in the forthcoming World Cup warm-up games in the United States. It is understood that all five additional squad selections, despite not being picked in Thomas Tuchel's full squad for the World Cup, are eligible to play in the friendlies versus New Zealand and Costa Rica. The quintet will also stay in Florida for the duration of the camp and not head back when the remaining five players report for duty. Scott was named in Tuchel's provisional 55-man squad for the tournament, which means that from the five supplementary players, only he stands a chance of breaking into the full World Cup squad at this stage should any injuries occur. With that in mind, the 22-year-old has a strong chance to make his international debut in one of the upcoming friendlies before heading off for his summer break. But in explaining why Tuchel decided to bring five extra players to the US for their pre-tournament camp, he said: "I'm really happy these guys are with us, especially Alex, who was with us in the list of 55 and had a kind of disappointing phone call as well, that he didn't make the first cut. But the reaction of him was outstanding, the commitment, the wish to be in pre-camp and to just be a step closer to the team was not even a question for him. He showed me his character and his spirit so I'm delighted that he's with us because it was a close call."
If Scott does feature, he will become England's 1300th different player.

Saturday, 6 June 2026 - England 1 New Zealand 0 - Thomas Tuchel fielded entirely different teams in each half as World Cup preparations continued with a narrow victory against New Zealand in Tampa. Harry Kane, the team's ever-reliable captain, headed his 79th England goal in 113 games just seconds before half-time. Tuchel then made wholesale changes, electing to look at most of his squad as the countdown continued to England's opening group game against Croatia. Liverpool's 17-year-old winger Rio Ngumoha, who is not in the 26-player World Cup squad, was given his debut to become the fifth youngest player to represent the team. The experimental nature of Tuchel's team was reflected in a low-key affair played in searing heat, but it will have proved to be a useful acclimatisation exercise before Wednesday's final pre-World Cup friendly against Costa Rica in Orlando.

Sunday, 7 June 2026 - The four Arsenal players join in training for the first time. Tuchel confirms Declan Rice will be England's vice-captain throughout this summer's campaign.

Tuesday, 9 June 2026 - All 31 players are training at Palm Beach.
