Diary

Monday, 20 February 2023 - England will have an unique international double this year with both the women's and men's senior teams going head-to-head with Australia in London.

Thursday, 5 October 2023 - Gareth Southgate names his 26-man squad and has recalled Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins for October's games against Australia and Italy at Wembley. Watkins, who last featured for England in March 2022, continued his impressive start to the season with a hat-trick against Brighton on Saturday. There is also a recall for Jarrod Bowen, who last featured for England in May 2022.
Bukayo Saka, is also included, but is 'still being assessed' after Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta described the winger's latest injury - a muscular problem which forced him off after 34 minutes against Lens on Tuesday - as 'a worry'. Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling is left out of a fourth successive squad.

Sunday, 8 October 2023 - Following Arsenal's Premier League victory over Manchester City tonight, manager Mikel Arteta states that Bukayo Saka will not be joining up with the England squad because of a hamstring injury. 'No, he will not make it, he has trained for a single session. He is not available to play football at the moment'. Saka missed his first Premier League game since May 2021, a total of 87 consecutive appearances. There is no word from Gareth Southgate, however.

Monday, 9 October 2023 - Stéphanie Frappart will referee Friday's international friendly between England and Australia, becoming the first female official to oversee a men's international match at Wembley. Frenchwoman Frappart became the first woman to referee a men's World Cup fixture during Qatar 2022 when she took charge of Germany's 4-2 victory over Costa Rica. Peter Elsworth, the FA's head of refereeing operations, said: "Stephanie is an outstanding referee. We're delighted she and her team will take charge of our upcoming fixture against Australia in front of a sold-out crowd at Wembley Stadium and we're looking forward to welcoming them to the home of English football." The 39-year-old has been a trailblazer for female referees, taking charge of men's Ligue 2 and Ligue 1 fixtures in France, as well as being the first woman to officiate in the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup.
The squad arrive at St. George's Park. The medical team assess Bukayo Saka's hamstring injury and decide that it is in his best interest to continue his rehabilitation at his club.

Tuesday, 10 October 2023 - On the day the UK are confirmed as hosts of Euro 2028, 24 of the 25-man squad spend their first full day of training at St. George's Park. The missing player, Kyle Walker, is having a personal session indoors.

Thursday, 12 October 2023 - The England squad relocate to Tottenham Hotspur FC training centre.
