Playing Career


Club(s)
Mason joined the Tottenham Hotspur FC Academy in June 2007 and signed his first professional contract a year later. On 13 June 2009, Mason was loaned out to Yeovil Town FC, along with teammate Steven Caulker, initially for three months, but extended to the season, however, he was recalled on 15 March 2010. On 13 August 2010, Mason was loaned to Doncaster Rovers FC for two months, he was reloaned again to Rovers on 21 January 2011. Mason returned to Spurs to sign a three-year contract, and was then re-loaned again to Doncaster on a season-long loan, but was recalled on 24 November 2011. On 29 December 2011, Mason and Harry Kane joined Millwall FC on loan until the end of the season. On 31 January 2013, Mason was loaned out to French club Lorient FC, but returned on 23 April without making any appearances. On 23 July 2013, Mason signed a season long loan with Swindon Town FC. He returned to Tottenham to become a regular first team member. However, Mason chose to join Hull City AFC over Sunderland AFC on 30 August 2016 for a club record fee of £13 million. Mason suffered a fractured skull following a collision with Gary Cahill on 22 January 2017. He was forced to retire on 13 February 2018.

Mason joined the Tottenham Hotspur FC backroom staff after he was forced to retire from playing on 13 February 2018. On 20 April 2021, however, Mason was appointed as caretaker manager until the end of the season, a day after the sacking of José Mourinho. He returned to the hotseat again as a caretaker on 23 April 2023.
