Tranmere Rovers, but had played a game more. Tranmere's form faded
away, however, and Chesterfield wrapped up the title with ease.
IN OTHER NEWS...
It was on 3 April 1936 that Richard Hauptmann was executed by
electric chair at the New Jersey State Prison. He had been convicted of
the murder of the twenty-month-old son of Charles Lindbergh, who, in
1927, had become the first person to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean,
and acquired worldwide fame as a result. Although the child had been
abducted and killed, a ransom was paid and it was two months before the
child's body was found. Hauptmann was arrested, two years later, tried
and convicted.
