Monday, 17 May 2004 - Sven-Göran Eriksson announces his 24-man squad, 23 of which will go on to Portugal as England's official European Championship Finals squad. Jermain Defoe is the one extra member, who will remain on standby to the England squad for the forthcoming tournament.

Tuesday, 18 May 2004 - Emile Heskey signs for Birmingham City. But the deal is not effective until 1 July. Heskey remains a Liverpool player for the forthcoming Finals.
