Thursday, 12 May 2016 - Roy Hodgson delays the decision to announce his European Championship Squad until after the final Premier League weekend has been played, allowing himself four extra days to assess players' injuries and fitness.

Monday, 16 May 2016 - Roy Hodgson's provisional squad is named. Marcus Rashford is included and Jack Wilshere, along with Andros Townsend and Fabian Delph are recalled. Theo Walcott and Phil Jagielka miss out, and there is no room for Jermain Defoe. Hodgson has until 31 May to cull his squad by three.

Wednesday, 18 May 2016 - Many of the England squad report to St. George's Park for training ahead of next week's friendly match. It excludes players from Liverpool and Manchester United, who are still participating in domestic competitions. However, those involved come through with incident. Gary Cahill misses training.

Friday, 20 May 2016 - Jordan Henderson joins the rest of the squad in training after returning from Basel, where he starred in a non-participating role as Liverpool lost the UEFA Europa League Final on Wednesday night. Gary Cahill also has his first training session. Today's training session is joined by England Rugby coach, Eddie Jones, as well as an unwanted autograph hunter, who had invaded the training pitch during a session. Gary Cahill receives a painkilling injection in his hip.

Sunday, 22 May 2016 - England come through their friendly test against Turkey with a victory, despite Harry Kane missing a penalty. It was revealed that one of the goalscorers, Jamie Vardy, is unavailable for selection against Australia, as he is due to get married on Wednesday.

Monday, 23 May 2016 - The rest of the squad from Liverpool join up with the England team at Manchester City Academy.

Wednesday, 25 May 2016 - The England players are again training in Manchester. Daniel Sturridge is missing from the session after receiving an unspecified knock, further speculating a debut for Marcus Rashford. Gary Cahill is also a sidelined participant. The only other missing player is Jamie Vardy, who is getting married today. Danny Drinkwater did attend the ceremony, but he returned for training.

Thursday, 26 May 2016 - Roy Hodgson confirms that Daniel Sturridge has been suffering from a calf strain and that Fabian Delph will be missing from the match against Australia because of a groin strain, and he is now placed on standby for the European Championship Squad. Hodgson also confirms that Forster will start in goal, and Rooney will start from the bench.

Friday, 27 May 2016 - History is made as Marcus Rashford becomes the youngest player to score on his debut for England, beating a record held by Tommy Lawton since 1938. England's newest scorer is joined by England's top scorer, Wayne Rooney, on the scoresheet. Eric Dier's unfortunate own goal was a consolation for the Australian team.

Monday, 30 May 2016 - The England squad return to training at Watford FC's training ground. Daniel Sturridge and Gary Cahill both return to full training, whereas Ryan Bertrand sat out the early session, so he could receive treatment on a knock.

Tuesday, 31 May 2016 - Roy Hodgson names his 23 man squad that he is taking to France for the European Championship Finals. Both Marcus Rashford and Daniel Sturridge are included, whereas Danny Drinkwater and Andros Townsend are the two players that lose out after Fabian Delph was withdrawn last week.

Wednesday, 1 June 2016 - Ryan Bertrand misses training again because of an injury that will keep him for playing any part in tomorrow night's friendly against Portugal. He is still expected to be fit for the European Championship Finals.

Thursday, 2 June 2016 - England concluded their preparations for Euro 2016 with a narrow win over 10-man Portugal. Chris Smalling headed England's winner from substitute Raheem Sterling's cross with four minutes left as manager Roy Hodgson's side struggled to break down Portugal, who had Bruno Alves sent off for a wild, high challenge on Harry Kane in the 35th minute. Only Kyle Walker distinguished himself although Sterling provided a lively cameo off the bench. The main positive for Hodgson was that there were no fresh injury concerns as he now turns his attention to the Euro 2016 opener against Russia in Marseille on 11 June. The Squad then departed for three days of rest.

Monday, 6 June 2016 - The England squad depart Luton airport, bound for Paris, and arrive at their base in Chantilly, South France, where they are met by the Mayor of Chantilly.

Tuesday, 7 June 2016 - 22 of the England squad attend training at Stade des Bourgognes. The 23rd, Ryan Bertrand, is working one-on-one with physio Gary Lewin in an attempt to gain match fitness. He is not an injury concern for the opening match on Saturday evening.
Chris Smalling finished the session with his left knee strapped up. He is expected to take part fully in tomorrow's training session.
