"The revival of Youth Football for those between 16 and 18 years of age has been one of the most important features in The Football Association's work since the War. The 1947-48 season has seen two innovations. The first was the International Youth Tournament played in England. There was also the Youth International Championship between England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The success of these competitions is unquestioned, and they are likely to become a permanent feature in each year's fixtures. The promise shown by many of the players and their general enthusiasm augurs well for the future of the game." - The F.A. Yearbook 1948-49. p115
